When the online world gets you down, sometimes it’s better just to switch off and get away from your laptop, phone and all things social media.
I spend an awful lot of time on social media and online with the course I’m studying at university. It can become utterly time consuming and it’s very easy to get swept up in it, I can spend hours scrolling Facebook and not realising how much time I’ve spent online.
I wrote a previous blog post about how Instagram is ruining confidence and it’s true, you end up feeling inadequate and jealous of others. Before you know it you’ve spent hours scrolling Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. That time is wasted and you are left feeling unproductive.
I sometimes have a day where I switch off my phone and just have a day to myself. There is definitely a constant need to keep updated with the news and what is happening on social media. Especially studying journalism, you can miss something big which might pop up in lectures.
Here are some ways to relax and de-stress away from anything electronic:
Emerge yourself into a project, book or hobby. Sitting down and reading a good book is my ideal way to get away from everything. I’m currently reading me before you which I’m really enjoying.
Go for a walk or run, just get outside. When I am really frustrated going for a walk can be really helpful, it can clear your head and just get me away from my laptop and working.
Hope you enjoyed this post.
